1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool Admission Portal at admissions.shinnyo.lk (the "Portal"), operated by Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool ("Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool ", "we", "us", "our") for the purpose of receiving and processing applications for admission to Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool (the "Preschool").
By accessing or using the Portal, submitting an application, or creating an account, you (the parent or legal guardian submitting an application on behalf of a child, referred to as "you", "your", or "Applicant") agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Usage Policy, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Portal.
The Portal replaces the admissions process previously hosted at shinnyo.lk/nursery-admissions. Any reference to, bookmark of, or link to the previous page should be updated to admissions.shinnyo.lk.
2. Who May Use the Portal
The Portal is intended solely for parents and legal guardians submitting an admission application for a child on their behalf. The Portal is not directed at children, and children should not use the Portal directly or submit information themselves. Only one application per child may be submitted; submitting more than one application for the same child is not permitted and may result in disqualification.
3. The Admission Process
Use of the Portal does not guarantee admission. The process generally involves:
Preparation — reviewing these Terms, the published application guidelines, and gathering the required documents and information before registering.
Registration — submitting the online application form via the Portal, ensuring all information entered is complete and accurate.
Interview — if shortlisted, attending an interview at the date and time notified by e-mail, together with the original documents requested.
Outcome — being notified whether the child has been offered a place.
Eligibility criteria (including the child's age as at the date specified for that admission cycle), the application deadline, and required supporting documents are published on the Portal for each academic year and form part of these Terms for that cycle.
4. Applicant Obligations and Accuracy of Information
You must ensure all information relating to the child, both parents, and (where applicable) a guardian is entered accurately and completely.
Where a parent's details genuinely cannot be provided, the corresponding checkbox on the form must be marked rather than the field left inaccurate or misleading.
Where the child resides with a guardian, the guardian's details must also be included.
A photograph of the child must be uploaded in accordance with the Photograph Guidelines published on the Portal (colour photograph, 35mm x 45mm, taken within the last 3 months, plain white/off-white background, full-face view, no headwear, glasses, toys, or headphones).
Applications must be submitted online before the published deadline date and time. Applications submitted by post or handed in physically will not be accepted.
Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool reserves the right to reject, disqualify, or discontinue processing any application that contains inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information, or that has been submitted in breach of these Terms.
5. Interviews, Decisions, and Canvassing
Where an application is shortlisted, an interview will be scheduled and communicated by e-mail. No telephone calls or in-person appointments regarding an application or interview will be entertained by the Preschool office.
Decisions made by the Preschool's management on admission are final. Letters of appeal will not be acknowledged or considered.
Canvassing in any form on behalf of an applicant, by the applicant's family or any third party, will result in disqualification of the application.
6. Fees and Payments
An annual, all-inclusive Maintenance Fee is payable upon confirmation of admission, in full, prior to the commencement of the academic year, in order to secure the child's place. Payment by instalments is not permitted.
Fee payments are processed exclusively through our designated Payments Portal, which is a separate service operated by Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool. Payment methods, transaction terms, and the refund policy applicable to fees paid are governed by the Terms & Refund Policy published on the respective portal and not by these Terms. We encourage you to review that policy before making any payment.
The Admission Portal itself does not process or store payment card details.
7. Accounts and Security
Where the Portal requires you to create an account or credentials to complete or track an application, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
8. Acceptable Use
When using the Portal, you agree that you will not:
Submit false, misleading, or another person's information without authority to do so;
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Portal, other applicants' data, or Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool's systems;
Upload any file containing malicious code, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes the rights of any third party;
Use the Portal for any purpose other than submitting and managing a bona fide admission application;
Attempt to circumvent the one-application-per-child rule or otherwise manipulate the selection process.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on the Portal, including text, layout, graphics, logos, and the Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool name and marks, is owned by or licensed to Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool 's name, logo, or other marks except as strictly necessary to complete your application.
The photograph and information you submit remain subject to the Privacy Policy; submitting them does not transfer ownership, but you grant Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool the limited right to use them for the purposes described in that Policy (application review, interview, and, if admitted, the child's student record).
10. Disclaimers
The Portal and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we take reasonable care to keep information on the Portal (including deadlines, fees, and guidelines) accurate and current, we do not warrant that the Portal will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of typographical or other inaccuracies, and we reserve the right to correct such matters or update information at any time.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Portal, including loss arising from missed deadlines, technical failure, or an adverse admission decision. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The Portal may link to other Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool services or third-party websites. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and Shinnyo-en Lanka Preschool is not responsible for their content or practices.
13. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Portal, or decline to process an application, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached, where information provided is false or misleading, or where required to do so by law.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes for a new academic year's admission cycle. The "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Portal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes affecting an application already in progress will, where practicable, be separately notified to affected applicants.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
